化干戈为玉帛 – A Poem by J H Martin

化干戈为玉帛

Tonight
Tomorrow
And now more than ever

I should stretch
In a relaxed way

I should not
Condition my mind
For competition

That is one lesson
The old master taught me

In that empty wooden hall
Eighteen years ago

Indeed
That is quite the sentence there

But it is well deserved

Too little
Does make me a coward
And too much – a fool

Of course
I can smile at the truth
But it is not funny

The new start
The new style
The constant reinvention

By now
I would have thought
I would have remembered
To forget

But I am not surprised
That I have not

If you try to eat from your art
It will eat you

Come

Sit down and drink tea

Relax
Relax
Relax
