“What is the sun like?” he asked the men in the room.
“It’s like a copper plate,” one of them replied.
“Right,” he nodded.
So, later on, when he heard the clang of the local temple bell, he pointed and said, “That is the sun.”
“No, no, no,” another man said, while the other men laughed, “That’s wrong, my friend. It’s like a candle – here…”
The man passed him a candle and he felt its shape with his hands.
“I see,” he said.
Later, when the men had gone the blind man picked up his flute and smiled to himself.
“Yes,” he nodded, “This must indeed be the sun.”
