Méduse – A Poem by J H Martin

My friend
I am sorry

I cannot speak

I have a legacy

Violent upheaval
Swift severance

No money
No service

No alternative
But to change

Not for the flesh
But for the earth

Whip
Chain
Baton
Gun

They are not
Enough to stop

They are not
Enough to calm

They are not
Enough to reverse

What has already been done

My friend
Smile

Que sais-je?

That rope has been cut

This raft is adrift
